The Eng\u00fcr\u00fc Caf\u00e9, a tea\/coffee shop on Konur St. at the heart of Ankara from 1985 to 2007, was where intellectuals, literary and artistic creators of the city frequented and comingled. This documentary is a glimpse at the political, social and cultural climate of T\u00fcrkiye in 1990s through the products of these encounters, interactions and acquaintances.<\/p>\n
The documentary seeks the traces of intellectual, literary and artistic endeavors of the time, which came into fruition by the potent potential of people of different groups, ages and genders sharing the same space. It focuses both on significance of the Caf\u00e9 for Ankara and K\u0131z\u0131lay, and the relationship between the space and the city and their potential to influence and transform each other. It looks at Eng\u00fcr\u00fc Caf\u00e9 from the spectacles of the political and cultural climate of Ankara in 1990s together with its place in Konur & Y\u00fcksel Streets. It explores its bonds with the street beyond and neighboring shops and its place in the societal memory as a special place for memories.<\/p>\n
